In this very special Hospital Week episode, Marcus interviews plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Tim Jones. Dr. Jones spent hundreds of hours operating on Marcus. He shares what it was like to witness the destruction to Marcus’ face, the plan to reconstruct it and the struggles faced when treating an angry, young patient dealing with grief and loss.
Marcus shares some memories of the compassionate ways Dr. Jones learned to communicate with him. Dr. Jones shares some of his greatest joys in medicine before telling of his biggest losses, the loss of a grandmother, his mother and his son, all died by suicide.
Dr. Jones talks about founding a 501(c)3 named in honor of his family, Mom & Mitchell Foundation, with a goal of mental health promotion and awareness and suicide prevention.
They share a few thoughts about redemption and how, at the core, we are all trying to redeem the traumatic losses we’ve endured.

Dr. Jones is an experienced surgeon with over 30 years of practice.
Originally from Shawnee, Oklahoma, Dr. Jones is board certified in both ENT and Plastic and Reconstructive surgery. He sees patients with all types of medical and cosmetic problems in the face and head and neck areas.
Dr. Jones attended the University of Oklahoma undergraduate and medical school, where he graduated with honors and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical society, respectively.
Dr. Jones completed his surgical internship and residency in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery (aka ENT) at the University of Virginia. He then completed a fellowship and second residency at the University of Pittsburgh in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
